Upcoming events

  • SROI Masterclass

    Wednesday, 16 May 2012 - 9:30am

Theory of change is a research approach which sits well within the SROI framework. Developed by social researchers on both sides of the Atlantic, and growing in popularity over the last decade, a theory of change approach relies on stakeholders as key informants.

  • Wednesday, 16 May 2012 - 6:30pm

Want to know how your organisation can measure and deliver happiness at work? Join us for our event with Tony Hsieh and Nic Marks to find out how and why is important.

  • Wednesday, 23 May 2012 - 6:30pm

The Festival of Transition, a joint project of nef, Transition Network and others, is a series of events, talks and walks happening up and down the country from now until June, culminating in a nationwide day of action and experimentation on 20th-21st June 2012. It’s an opportunity to think positively about how our lives could change as we adapt to the end of cheap fossil fuels, address the threat of runaway climate change and deal with realities of a failed financial system.

  • Friday, 25 May 2012 - 9:00am

Along with countless other species, orangutans, polar bears, spotted owls, elephants and cod are on the verge of extinction. Our unsustainable economic system is the main driving force behind this crisis. Join conservation and economic experts to explore these links and outline strategies for prioritising wildlife conservation in the new economy.

  • Saturday, 26 May 2012 - 2:30pm

From now until June, museums, galleries and public spaces across the country will be hosting debates, talks and workshops asking the question: What if…? Find an event that appeals to you, go along, and get inspired to conduct your own 24 hour experiment on 20th June 2012.

  • SROI Masterclass

    Wednesday, 30 May 2012 - 9:30am

One of the core concepts of SROI is that it is an outcomes-based evaluation approach. In many applications of SROI, stakeholders help inform outcomes which they define as changes in behaviour, feelings and attitudes. These “soft” outcomes may be just as valuable, from the perspective of those benefiting from an intervention, as more traditional “hard” outcomes such as reduction in criminal activity or increase in earnings.

  • Tuesday, 12 June 2012 - 9:30am

When nef undertakes SROI analyses, we use spreadsheets to hold outcomes data, assumptions and proxies, and translate these numbers into meaningful indicators of social change and value for money assessments. As these spreadsheets have grown increasingly complex, we’ve learned various tricks and protocols. This Masterclass seeks to share this knowledge with those undertaking their own process of extracting “the story behind the numbers”.
