Events Associate

The New Economics Foundation (NEF), one of the UK’s oldest and largest progressive think tanks, is looking for an experienced and creative Events Associate to work on a freelance basis to help us organise impactful external events over the coming years.

From expert roundtables to report launches, from Ministerial speeches to party conference discussions, NEF organises a range of events over the course of a year. The timing and intensity of our events programme is hard to predict so we are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated individual to work on a freelance basis to help us deliver excellent events. Here are some details of what we are looking for.

Essential criteria:

  • Track record of organising and delivering high-quality events
  • Knowledge of the UK policy and political arenas
  • Highly levels of organisation, excellent communication skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Commitment to NEFs approach and values

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of working with high-profile speakers and participants
  • Experience of fundraising
  • International experience, particulary in continental Europe
  • Familiarity with the key policy areas that NEF works on

We anticipate a busy programme of events over the next year, starting with the launch of a major project with the British credit union sector in June, events at the major political party conferences in the autumn and a series of events to mark NEF’s 40th anniversary in 2026.

If you are interested in this role, please send us an expression of interest by 9am on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 to recruitment@neweconomics.org. Please outline your motivation and experience, your day rate and availability, both in terms of when you can start working with us and what your ongoing availability is likely to be. Please also complete the Equality and Diversity monitoring form.

We hope to conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates in late April and hope to have someone working with us from May.

You can be based anywhere in the UK but be prepared to travel to events and relevant meetings, many of which are likely to be in London. You must be eligible to work in the UK, we are unable to sponsor visas.
