This privacy notice explains how we use any personal information we collect about our trustees, employees, volunteers and job applicants.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information provided by you so that we meet our legal obligations or because we need the information because we have a contract or agreement with you. For job applicants and employees, we collect and retain information from others in the form of references. This helps us to make recruitment decisions.

How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you so that we can work effectively with you as a trustee, employee or volunteer. The information we collect about job applicants is to help us treat you lawfully and fairly during the course of our recruitment activity.

Who do we share your information with?

We share some information about trustees with our regulators, the Charity Commission and Companies House. We also share some information about trustees with regulated professional firms (such as banks, solicitors and auditors) so that they can fulfil legal obligations. We have written agreements with these firms ensuring that they handle your information in line with the law.

We share some information about employees (including employees of NEF Consulting) with our pension providers (Aviva) and with our payroll firm (Dataplan). They process personal information on our behalf. We have written agreements with these firms ensuring that they handle your information in line with the law. We also share certain information with Revenue & Customs to fulfil legal obligations. We share information in the form of employment references with potential future employers only with your consent. We share information about your salary and benefits with our recognised union only with your consent.

We do not share information about volunteers with anybody else unless specifically required in law.

We do not share information about job applicants (for example, contacting a former employer to say that you’ve applied for a job with us) without your consent.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email info@neweconomics.org
