George Bangham

George leads NEF’s work on social policy, including on housing, living standards, labour markets, taxation and social security. He previously spent five years as an economist at HM Treasury, in roles including Head of Distributional Analysis and Head of Labour Market Analysis, and was seconded to 10 Downing Street to work on the 2025 budget. Before his time in government he worked at the Resolution Foundation and at the third sector trade body ACEVO. George holds an MSc in Economics of Public Policy from the Barcelona School of Economics and a BA in History from the University of Cambridge.
