Mitra Dastbaz

Former Analyst

Mitra joined NEF Consulting in October 2021. She has a strongly interdisciplinary background, with an emphasis on qualitative research. Previously, in her work as an International Human Rights Programme Fellow, she evaluated and presented grant recommendations to trustees, supported organisations through the lifecycle of a grant, and conducted scoping research on potential new funding streams. Prior to that, she worked for a private not-for-profit university, researching women’s empowerment initiatives, formulating restructures for the university’s alumni association, and evaluating best practice for tuition-free courses. During her undergraduate degree, she undertook a consultancy project around trauma-informed care for a mental health charity.

She has volunteering experience as a caseworker with a US-based community organisation supporting those experiencing homelessness, and as an analyst with Amnesty International’s Digital Verification Corps where she gathered and verified open source data related to human rights atrocities.

Mitra holds a BASc in Arts and Sciences from University College London, and an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge.
