Tom Stephens works with NEF on their early years education and care and ‘good jobs’ policy areas. His research has included modelling the impact of a more universal and high-quality childcare offer, and investigating inequalities in childcare provision across the country. He is in the process of completing an ESRC-funded PhD in Social Policy at the London School of Economics, and is a Teaching Fellow at the LSE’s School of Public Policy. Prior to that, he worked in politics and public affairs for over a decade – including a stint as Lead Member for Education, Employment and Skills in the London Borough of Brent; and working in Parliament with Dame Diana Johnson MP on the infected blood campaign and reproductive healthcare law reform.
