The regulation of community development finance institutions
09 July 2001
This report sets out to answer the question “what regulatory framework will be most appropriate for community development finance institutions in the UK over the next ten to fifteen years?”
In order to answer this, the authors assess the overall regulatory framework for financial services and highlight what the key trends are likely to be. The report also focuses on the current legal and regulatory status of CDFIs including perceived problems and future needs and assesses options for future regulation.
This report forms part of the research conducted by the New Economics Foundation for the report The State of Community Development Finance 2001 which was supported by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
