Support local communities fighting high-carbon expansions
Despite the urgent need to cut carbon emissions, seven airport expansions are underway in the UK and more are in the pipeline. People living in the shadows of Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol, Southampton, Stansted, Manston and Luton are giving up their time and energy to try to stop these disastrous projects getting planning approval.
NEF has been working with these small, local groups. Our researchers have exposed the false claims about environmental impact and economic benefits used by the airports to justify their expansions, and acted as expert witnesses at planning inquiries. Together, we have already forced the cancellation of the planned expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport.
