Dr Lydia Prieg

Head of Economics

Before joining NEF as Head of Economics, Lydia completed a PhD in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge. Her thesis focused on the impacts of climate change on GDP and income inequality. Prior to that she was a Private Sector Policy Advisor at Oxfam, where she worked with asset managers to encourage large food and beverage companies to have more sustainable and ethical supply chains, and also tracked fossil fuel financing in the international capital markets.

Before joining Oxfam, Lydia worked as a Researcher at NEF specialising in financial reform, which included exploring the role of the banking system and the capital markets on economic stability, inequality, and environmental sustainability. This followed 18 months working on the trading floor of Goldman Sachs, where she modelled and sold interest rate products to UK banks, building societies and asset managers.

In addition to her PhD, she has a BA in Physics from the University of Oxford, and a MSc in Political Science and Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
