Tanya Kiemo

Tanya is a community organiser in South Yorkshire. She supports residents in collectively tackling challenges in the community and building and fighting for improvements that develop their power.

Tanya has a background in community development and thrives on empowering and equipping people with lived experience of inequality to challenge power, create community-driven solutions and be an active part of decision-making.

She has worked on various public health pilot projects focused on improving inequality. She has recently worked at Shelter, supporting people most impacted by the housing emergency to amplify their voices and improve housing support services. She was honoured for this work, receiving the first Equity and Inclusion award for her contribution to engaging, equipping, and empowering people from underrepresented communities.
