The NHS was founded on the principle of universality, yet the coronavirus crisis has highlighted how migrants are often excluded. Several recent reports indicate that the government’s Hostile Environment – which weaves immigration enforcement into public services — has prevented migrants from accessing health care and other basic support during the pandemic.
How has the Hostile Environment impacted migrant health, and how has this played out during the pandemic? What can be done to ensure that everyone, regardless of their immigration status, is able to access healthcare on an equal footing?
