Why the cost of living crisis is a climate issue

Join NEF for a New Economics Briefing to discuss how the climate movement should respond to the cost of living crisis

Watch our online event with Miatta Fahnbulleh, CEO, New Economics Foundation; Lucie Middlemiss, Professor of Environment and Society, Leeds University; Maria Marshall, Project Officer, Independent Food Aid Network; Alexa Waud, Co-director, Fuel Poverty Action.

We are living through an unprecedented cost of living crisis. As UK households see a painful rise in their energy bills, NEF research has found that the poorest families will be hit 7.5 times harder than the richest. At the same time polluting energy companies Shell and BP are posting profit forecasts of almost £40 billion for this year.

How is the cost of living crisis linked to the climate crisis, and why does this matter? What are politicians across the political spectrum proposing as a solution to this crisis? And what demands can we make that protect both the most vulnerable in society and the climate?

If you value great public services, protecting the planet and reducing inequality, please support NEF today.
