New Economics Foundation outlines plans to recruit a new CEO in 2023
16 December 2022
Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation (NEF) Miatta Fahnbullh has announced she will be stepping down from the post in 2023 following her successful selection as the parliamentary candidate for Camberwell and Peckham.
NEF’s Board have developed and agreed a clear transition plan that will come into effect immediately with recruitment taking place in early 2023. Miatta will remain in her position as CEO of NEF until her successor is in post and will work closely with the Board and NEF’s leadership team to ensure there is a smooth transition to new leadership.
Lord Bob Kerslake, Chair of the New Economics Foundation, said:
“Miatta has been a superb leader of NEF for the last five years and will be greatly missed. I want to thank her for the terrific job that she has done leading the organisation and want to join everyone at NEF in wishing Miatta the best of luck as she moves into this new phase of career.
“The Board have agreed to commence the recruitment process and to establish a recruitment panel to find Miatta’s successor which will take place in the new year. Miatta will stay in post until this transition is complete, ensuring that NEF goes from strength to strength over the coming year and remains a leader in the sector.”
Miatta Fahnbulleh, Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation, said:
“It has been an absolute privilege running NEF over the last five years, alongside a fantastic team. We have generated new ideas, influenced the debate and delivered real impact on the ground in unprecedented economic times. I am incredibly grateful to have learnt a huge amount and had the chance to work with amazing people inside NEF and across the wider movement as the leader of the organisation.
“Now, more than ever, we need strong, rigorous voices advocating for change and setting out alternatives to the status quo. I have no doubt that NEF will continue to play a critical role in this. I’m looking forward to seeing us go from strength to strength and will do my part to ensure a smooth transition to deliver this. Thank you to NEF Chair Bob Kerslake and the rest of the Board for the continued support and a huge thank you to the great team at NEF for everything we have achieved together over the last five years.”
