As schools and nurseries remain closed except to a few children, many parents are at home trying to balance work with looking after their kids. But some are still being asked to pay for childcare they aren’t using. On top of this childcare workers are put in a difficult situation – having to continue going into work often for very low pay.
Accessible and affordable childcare is crucial in enabling key workers to keep doing their jobs and support the rest of us through the crisis. What’s going on with childcare at the moment? What would a better system look like, and how do we get there?
