Green New Deal

Good green jobs and a more equal economy across the UK

We are working across the UK to build the power of those that want to take more control of their environmental and economic futures, and to change the rules to deliver the investment and shifts in economic power needed to make the Green New Deal a reality.

The Green New Deal is a plan and a growing global movement. The plan is for huge investment in the economic future of the UK, to create a new generation of jobs in the industries and infrastructure we need to tackle the climate crisis. The movement is demanding a new approach to running our economy that guarantees decent work, greater ownership and economic democracy, with a central purpose of putting people and planet first.

NEF was one of the architects of the original Green New Deal in 2008. Since then the world has changed, but with the UK economy nearly a decade into an austerity drive – and with only a decade to halve global carbon emissions – the need for a new plan hasn’t.

We are working across the UK to build the power of those that want to take more control of their environmental and economic futures, and to change the rules to deliver the investment and shifts in economic power and purpose needed to make the Green New Deal a reality.
